Seattle Mart, Gift for Life host fundraiser for hunger relief

Gift for Life and Seattle Mart will partner for the upcoming summer market this July with a “Feed the Hungry, Feel the Good” fundraising effort for World Central Kitchen’s crisis-related hunger relief efforts across the globe.

Seattle Mart has set a fundraising goal of $5,000 for the weeklong fundraiser, July 24-28, plus an evening event on July 25.

“Seattle Mart is excited to partner with Gift for Life for a second time to help in their efforts to fundraise for World Central Kitchen,” said Betsy Harney of Sugar B Sales, a Seattle Mart ISA board member. “We look forward to working with our showrooms and retailers to further the Gift for Life mission.”

Participating showrooms will raise funds in several ways, including donations of $1 for each confirmed order placed during the summer market; vendor contributions; direct donations from retailers; and percentage of sales from sample sales.

To date, confirmed participants are: Cards & Gifts NW (#206); DL Anderson (#114); Fine Lines (#213); Keena (#201); Kinfetti (#204); Monkey Business (#307); Palladium. Inc. (#309); Ritz Sisters (#202) and Sugar B Sales (#211).

Additionally, the Seattle Mart ISA board will be hosting a “Feed the Hungry, Feel the Good” fundraising event for tenants and buyers on Tuesday, July 25, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Seattle Mart in celebration of market week.

“The Seattle Mart has been a long-time supporter of Gift for Life,” said Ari Lowenstein, chair of Gift for Life. “We are so appreciative of their continued partnership and creative fundraising campaigns to support World Central Kitchen’s work addressing food insecurity around the world.”
