Leanin’ Tree names new CEO
Leanin’ Tree announced the appointment of Karl Kunz as CEO.
Kunz brings extensive experience in business and finance, along with a deep commitment to the company’s mission. He has served on the Board of Directors for Leanin’ Tree’s employee ownership entity, Dream Ranch Holdings Co., for the past three years — most of that time as chairman. In his new role, Kunz will lead operations from the company’s headquarters in Colorado.
“Leanin’ Tree has been focused on strengthening our infrastructure and processes, including relocating production and offices to a newly built facility,” said Kunz. “With the launch of new brands — Willow & Ivy Press, Ranch Rebel Co. and Wag Tales — we are reaffirming our position as an industry leader. I’m excited to lead the company into this next chapter of growth and innovation.”
Now in its 77th year, Leanin’ Tree has deep roots in the greeting card industry. Founded in 1949 by Ed Trumble, the company grew from offering just four Western-themed Christmas cards to a collection of more than 2,000 unique designs for everyday and major holidays – all produced and fulfilled from their Colorado facility. In 2022, Leanin’ Tree transitioned from a family-owned business to an employee-owned company.
