Anti-ageist collaboration to release age-positive birthday card range
Changing the Narrative will release an age-positive birthday card range in January 2023.
The effort began in November, when the U.S. anti-ageism organization made a national call for greeting card designers as part of Changing the Narrative’s ongoing campaign to end ageism.
Ten designers from around the country were selected to create age-positive birthday cards:
- Lauren-Ashley Barnes, Pineapple Sundays Design Studio
- Traci Bixby, Mossy Blue Paper Studio
- Karen Kennedy, and the moon will rise
- Marina Kiskovich & Mitzi Sampson, Ampersand M Studio
- Hilary Meehan, Mirthos Paper
- Melissa Mika, Page Fifty Five
- Karen Ritz, Karen Ritz Cards
- Lucia Saisse, Lucy Loves Paper
- Aarica Smith, Infectious Design Co.
- Kate Wooley, The Noble Paperie
“We are thrilled to have this talented group of designers step up and show that there are alternatives to outdated, ageist birthday cards. We can’t wait to see what clever and age-positive concepts they come up with,” enthused Janine Vanderburg, director of Changing the Narrative.
Each will be available from the designers starting in January 2023.
Changing the Narrative’s aim is to not only raise awareness and understanding of ageism, but to make a real-world difference. It works to change the negative messages about aging that are heard in workplaces, doctors’ offices and in everyday lives.
