Stationery Spotted at AmericasMart Atlanta

{Sponsored} AmericasMart has fast become a destination for stationery buyers to get the latest products on their shelves before the shop down the street. We spoke with two well-known stationers about what they’re expecting and what they’ll bring to AmericasMart at the upcoming July Market. Over two decades ago, Nick Hanzlik grew frustrated with his fruitless search for stylish thank-you cards with cool messages. Out of that frustration grew new art and new designs based on the paper collages he honed in middle school. The minimalistic designs, under this new line named R. Nichols, were picked up by upscale retail stores such as Barneys and Neiman Marcus, plus Kate’s Paperie.

“Our motto: ‘Live Joy Give Joy’ really drives our design, and is the essence of who we are. Everything we do is held up to the ‘joy meter.’ Is this happy? Will it make people feel happy?” Hanzlik said. His team continues to design with the look of paper collages, with bold and bright colors with clean lines and continues to show those designs off at AmericasMart.

“The Gift & Home Market at AmericasMart is absolutely our favorite show. It’s one of the earlier shows, so buyers flock there to be the first to see what’s new — to be the first to bring these lines into their stores. Every time we exhibit at the show, we see new stationery companies who are full of fresh energy and ideas,” Hanzlik said.

Nichols will be presenting new products at AmericasMart: 2020 little desktop calendars, “which are chock full of clever, inspired (and super fun) designs,” Hanzlik said. They’ll have themes ranging from cats and dogs to florals.

Plus, R. Nichols will also introduce Compliment Cards at AmericasMart. “Your job is to write a compliment and hand it to someone to make their day (whether it’s a co-worker, a tired mom at the airport or your favorite barista at Starbucks). It’s a small thing but really can impact someone in a big way. This product is definitely in line with our ‘Live Joy Give Joy’ philosophy and is a very thoughtful way to bring joy and gratitude to a world that desperately needs it,” Hanzlik said.

unannounced-of-yet lines will be featured at AmericasMart in July. From Yellow Owl Workshop to Rifle Paper Co. and dozens in between, daniel*richards carries perennial favorites and fresh faces.

Co-founder Dan Collier makes AmericasMart his home base because “Everyone is there, and it’s the best bang for your buck. There are so many showrooms and temporaries, you can certainly fill your days and nights shopping and buying and curating. It is well worth all the expenses. There is almost too much to see and do,” Collier said.

At July Market, Collier hopes to see a big holiday offering, including boxed notecards, tags and totes and tissue, plus gift wrap for all occasions the holidays have to offer — including a strong Christmas showing. Since the competition is fierce and the game is tight, AmericasMart Atlanta continues to produce for daniel*richards. Customers come back to the daniel*richards showroom for the same reason that they continue to show at AmericasMart: buyers know they will see the usual lineup, plus something new and up and coming.
