Nina Jones

Jonesy Charismatic Stationery, founder/designer

Toronto, Ontario

With a list of organizations it supports ranging from Kids Up Front and DIFFA to our previously spotlighted Tradeshow Bootcamp, Jonesy Charismatic Stationery is obsessed with community involvement almost as much as it is with the handwritten letter. Since 2006, Nina Jones has been committed to developing a stationery line focused on conscious materials and a responsible process.

How did Jonesy come about?

I discovered my love of creating stationery when designing my wedding invitations in 2001. Custom stationery was my focus until 2006, which is when I started printing and creating cards and selling them to stores. I had caught the stationery bug!

You support a number of organizations including Tradeshow Bootcamp, one of our previous Industry Spotlights, how are you involved?

I love to support those I believe in and I love what Katie is doing. I love a handwritten note, so any way I can help promote it, I love to help spread the word.

How are you involved in the others?

I get in involved in different ways. With Camp Oochigeas I love to volunteer by hosting card-making workshops for those kids in the hospital. For those at camp, I donate cards so that they can write home.

Mail with Love is the brainchild of Julie Leif who has created a network of non-profits who can use cards to brighten someone’s day. I donate extra stock to Julie and she finds the right recipient.

Kids Up Front Toronto is a non-profit organization to which I donate my time as a graphic designer. This is an amazing group whose main focus just wants kids to have fun and experience things that they are unable to financially.

What’s your favorite way to give back?

My favorite way to give back is simply hearing how people can use my involvement. Whether it’s through product donation or donating my time, I love the thought that hopefully together, their voice will reach farther and louder.

Tell us, why stationery?

I love paper and I love sticking up for it in a time when people are focusing on turning paperless. To be paperless — that is emptiness to me.
