A ceremony to release the stamp will take place at 11 a.m., March 14, the second day of the show, at the Best Western Plus, 15471 Royalton Rd., Strongsville, Ohio.

Representatives of Prayers From Maria: Sunflowers Field of Hope, which works to eradicate childhood cancer and plants fields of sunflowers in Avon and Sandusky, the Ukrainian Museum and Archives in Cleveland, and Stationery Trends magazine will help dedicate the stamp at its release.

Presenters include Maria Hartman, community engagement administrator at Prayers From Maria; Andrew Fedynsky, director of Ukrainian Museum and Archives; and Sarah Schwartz, editor-in-chief of Stationery Trends magazine. U.S. Postal Service officials also will be on hand to unveil the stamp.

The stamp will be valued at 78 cents and will pay the first-class letter rate even when postage rates change in the future.

The March Party, which runs March 13-15, is one of the country’s longest running and most well-known stamp and postal history shows in country. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday. Admission and parking are free.

In addition to the stamp release, the show will host 38 dealers, specialty society programs and a presentation on early 19th Century Lorain County postal history.

Hundreds of stamp and postal history collectors as well as exhibitors from across the country traditionally attend the show.

Beyond the sunflower stamp release, the show will feature 170 frames of world-class postal exhibits. The best exhibit as determined by a jury will be eligible to compete in the American Philatelic Society Champion of Champions competition that will take place during the Boston 2026 World Expo May 23-30.

The Boston event is a once-a-decade international show and this year is timed for the U.S. bicentennial of independence. It will feature thousands of frames of exhibits, more than 100 dealers, postal administrations from around the world, and dozens of meetings and presentations on diverse U.S. and worldwide collecting topics.

A Postcrossing Meetup will follow the stamp release on March 14 at  1 p.m. Postcrossing is a global online organization of people who enjoy sending and receiving post cards from around the world

Club members will host a “Philatelic Antiques Roadshow” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 15 to review stamp holdings visitors may inherited or have had in their possession.

The stamp club has developed two show covers focusing on the sunflower theme that will be available for purchase. One features envelope art showing sunflowers and the other shows an outline map of Ukraine with sunflowers. Each will feature a pictorial postmark on each of the three days of the show. Covers cost $3.

The covers also can be ordered by mail by sending a check for the number of covers desired made out to the Garfield-Perry Stamp Club and a self-addressed, stamped envelope with a cardboard stiffener to P.O. Box 30338, Middleburg Heights, Ohio, 44130.
