Hong Kong International Stationery & School Supplies Fair opens after two-year pause

Exhibitors from eight countries and regions, including Hong Kong, Korea, Mainland China, Malaysia, Taiwan, the UAE, the U.S. and Vietnam, convene both in person and online for the Hong Kong International Stationery & School Supplies Fair, taking place Jan. 9-12 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center alongside the smart business-matching platform Click2Match (Jan. 9-19).

“Given the challenges exhibitors have faced in recent years, maximizing business opportunities has been at the core of our planning, whether it be digitally or at the fairground,” said Judy Cheung, deputy general manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. “But more importantly, we know how valuable the opportunity to meet face-to-face again in Hong Kong is to many of our participants. The city is known for its internationality, and quality is what the fair is valued for. With this edition serving as a starting point, we look forward to re-establishing Hong Kong as an important convergence point for Asia’s stationery and school supplies industries after the pandemic.”

With trend forecasters identifying green stationery as the future of retail, this category is well represented this year, according to the organization. In fact, stationery manufactured from biomass and plant-derived materials has grown in popularity in recent years with fair participants both new and old embracing this trend. Natural copy paper made from sugarcane, for example, will be presented by first time Korean exhibitor Ecomass, while in the school supplies category, long-time American exhibitor Mirage features travel mugs made from plant fibre.

Apart from exhibitors of green products, other stops at the fairground offer quality sourcing options, including automated electronics. Enzac Group will showcase their high-speed paper shredder that cuts to a precision of 4 x 38 mm, while Tung Yung Stationery will display its automatic stapler that offers versatile no press operation. From Malaysia, Yosogo, well known for its rubber band balls, marker pens, highlighters and other writing instruments will exhibit alongside other international exhibitors from this category.

For Mainland Chinese exhibitors, the fair has long been a stepping stone to international buyers from Asia, Europe and the United States. Well known exporters taking part this year include AP Group, Jinhua Feima Bag, Ningbo Atoz Create, Ningbo Flying King, Ningbo Sentu Art and Craft, Ningbo Taiyu Stationery, Yiwu Wenyuan Stationery, Zhejiang Daqian Painting Materials, and Zhejiang Huaxu Industrial.

Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Messe Frankfurt, the Hong Kong International Stationery & School Supplies Fair is held concurrently with the HKTDC’s Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair and the Hong Kong Baby Products Fair, providing a one-stop sourcing platform and crossover business opportunities for participants.
