Gift for Life welcomes 4 new board members
Gift for Life, the gift and home industries’ longest-running, volunteer-led national charitable organization, announced the appointment of four new members to its Board of Directors: Mellissa Robinson, Nicola Espinet, Richard B. Freeman and Courtney Noelle Maddox. Each brings a distinct perspective and a shared commitment to advancing Gift for Life’s mission of uniting the industry to support those in need.

“What stands out most about this group is their willingness to engage, support others and contribute in meaningful ways,” said Amy Loewenberg, chair of Gift for Life. “Their collective experience across retail development, sales leadership, brand building and industry advocacy brings a depth of perspective that will strengthen our board, and we look forward to working together to expand our impact and advance our mission.”
Mellissa Robinson, senior manager of retail development for Home & Gift + Buying Groups at Dallas Market Center, has built her career around strengthening relationships and supporting growth within the retail community. Beginning with an internship in a major gift showroom at the Dallas Market Center, Robinson went on to gain experience in corporate buying before returning to DMC, where she now works closely with retailers and brands across the industry. Her passion for service is reflected in her involvement in mission trips, local community cleanups and disaster relief efforts.

“Throughout the years, I have had the opportunity to serve others in various capacities. Seeing so many people from all different walks of life come together to serve others always fills me with hope,” Robinson said. “Being able to serve on the board of an organization that prioritizes helping others in times of need is fulfilling in so many ways.”
Nicola Espinet, president of David Youngson & Associates, brings more than 26 years of experience in the Canadian gift industry. Starting her career as a sales representative, Espinet has grown through the ranks to lead a team of 35 sales professionals across three divisions. Under her leadership, the company opened a 21,000-square-foot showroom, the largest in Canada’s gift industry, underscoring her commitment to growth, collaboration and excellence. Espinet is known for her focus on empowering teams, strengthening partnerships and driving sustainable success across the market.

Richard B. Freeman, national sales director of DM Merchandising and president of the Gift Sales Manager Association (GSMA), offers more than three decades of industry experience spanning both vendor and sales representation roles. For the past 16 years, Freeman has led a nationwide network of more than 230 sales representatives, while also making history as the first two-time President of GSMA. Widely respected for his mentorship and candid leadership style, Freeman is dedicated to developing the next generation of industry professionals and leaving a lasting positive impact on the gift, home and toy sectors.

Courtney Noelle Maddox, a longtime industry entrepreneur and brand builder, brings more than 20 years of experience working across the gift and fashion landscapes. Known for her collaborative approach, Maddox has built strong partnerships with independent sales representatives, boutique retailers and showroom partners, helping brands grow while fostering meaningful connections. Her leadership is grounded in creativity, joy and a deep appreciation for the relationships that drive the industry forward.
“Supporting Gift for Life means so much to me because it reflects the heart of our industry,” Maddox said. “Gift for Life takes that same spirit of creativity and connection and turns it into something even more meaningful by helping others.”
Together, these new board members reflect Gift for Life’s continued commitment to diverse perspectives, industry expertise and a shared belief in the power of community. Their appointments come at a time of continued growth for the organization, as it expands its fundraising efforts, partnerships and programs to support individuals and families in need.
