CoreGiving expects to provides volunteer hours to U.S. food banks

International Market Centers (IMC) employees in Atlanta, Las Vegas and High Point, North Carolina, were proud to participate in CoreGiving Day, a nationwide volunteer effort to fight food insecurity hosted by Blackstone and 11 of its portfolio companies, on Sep. 23. CoreGiving was launched in 2016 and has donated more than 10,000,000 meals in an effort to fight child hunger.

More than 80 employees from IMC’s three campus locations volunteered to sort and pack donations for local food banks. AmericasMart Atlanta employees worked at Hands on Atlanta, World Market Center Las Vegas staff assisted at 3 Square Food Bank; and in High Point-based staff helped at Food Pantry of West End Ministries.

“Food insecurity is one of the most pressing challenges we face today—one out of every six children in the U.S. is going hungry,” said Luke Petherbridge, chairman and co-founder of CoreGiving and chief executive officer of Link Logistics. “COVID-19 has only increased this critical need, making it more important than ever that we come together in the fight to reduce hunger.”

“Our mission is to ensure children have access to the food they need for a better, healthier tomorrow,” Petherbridge said. “I am thrilled to introduce our first ever CoreGiving Day—a dedicated day of service that allows our companies to give back to the communities in which they operate. Our organization has raised funds from more than 540 donors to help families in need, and we already reached our goal for this year of providing 7.5 million meals.”

In 2020, CoreGiving contributed to 27 food banks throughout the U.S. and partnered with more than 400 donors, providing 4.1 million meals to hungry children in 15 states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Washington.
