Carlson Craft unveils biggest trends of the year

(Sponsored) We spoke with the Creative Directors for Wedding Collections by Carlson Craft, April Simmering and Lynn Lundberg, to get a little insight into the creative process behind these gorgeous collections.

Q. What are some of the biggest wedding trends inspiring the designers at Carlson Craft right now?

A. We’re seeing a lot of minimalist design trends right now, and greenery is still so popular! Some newer trends we’ve got our eyes on include arches and clear invitations. The rustic trend is still going strong but has transformed into whimsical dried florals in muted tones and earthy hues.

Q. Could you tell us what type of products we will see in the upcoming wedding launch?

A. Dried florals has actually been a big favorite among our designers for its subtle, romantic colors and simple yet stunning subject matter. This year, we’re really loving the delicate look of sprigs of greenery around the wedding wording and the naturally dramatic look of cascading greenery. We’ve also added some really nice shaped invitations to reflect that arch trend beautifully and we’re expanding the Clear Collection with a few more items! Our design team continues to reimagine the minimalist trend in the form of simple typography layouts and nice, clean backgrounds.

Q. When can your customers look forward to the new wedding collection being out?

A. The 2021 Wedding Collections is live on the website and the Presentation Boxes have been sent to all who have requested them. We highly recommend requesting a Wedding Collections Presentation Box. The samples are just so beautiful in person.

Q. What can your retail partners look forward to from the Classic and Luxe portions of the collection?

A. The Classic Collection offers personalization in thermography or foil, which allows the customer even more options when creating a wedding invitation that really speaks to their style. We’re also offering a few invitations with foil on the front and back this year! We’ve added a few more White Ink designs, and we’ve added a couple All ‘n One Wedding Invitations to round out that selection. The clever and economical design of All ‘n Ones is popular with customers, so we like to keep that selection fresh.

The Luxe Collection is expanding to include preembellished pocket wedding invitations, which are just gorgeous! We’ve added an extra elegant White Ink design and we’re including a few shaped wedding invitations (remember those arch designs we talked about earlier?) and they really look stunning within this selection of luxe invites.

Q. What specific trends influenced these lines?

A. We find inspiration all over for all three collections but some of our favorites include fashion trends, home décor, wedding trends and even popular art pieces. Of course, we’re always watching color trends, and font trends are extremely important for keeping our selection fresh and exciting.

Q. What are your personal favorite items in the Classic and Luxe Collections?

A. I love the deep embossing on Carved Inspiration in the Classic Collection, which was inspired by a carved wood decorative wall hanging. I also love the boho/indie inspired look and shape of Object d’Art because it’s just so unique!

Q. What can your retail partners look forward to from the Trend Collection?

A. Classic styles reimagined with a fresh, modern feel is really what this collection is all about. Customers are going to love the beautiful variety of colorful florals and bright greenery with pops of shimmering foil. The Trend Collection also offers a variety of pocket colors and backer colors to create a perfectly coordinated look.

Q. What specific trends influenced these lines?

A. A few of our cascading greenery designs were inspired by the popular new wedding trend of hanging florals or suspended florals at receptions. Neutral colors abound in this collection, inspired by outdoor ceremony and receptions plus the dried floral trend we touched on earlier. We’ve also focused on clean backgrounds with subtle and understated accents to hit that minimalist look so many couples are looking for.

Q. What are your personal favorite items in the Trend portion of the collection?

A. The Soft Blossoms Invitation is such a beautiful combination of muted colors and elegant floral art with pops of shimmering foil. The Arched Lines Invitation uses clean lines and simple typography to create a really striking invite. Enveloped Leafage Invitation has that classic engraved look achieved through the use of affordable thermography. It’s incredibly elegant and a great choice for formal weddings.

Q. What is one thing you’d like to share about these new collections?

A. Wedding Collections by Carlson Craft is inspired by today’s trends yet mindful of traditional and classic elegance. The focus for Classic and Luxe is still on classic design themes and luxurious elements but heavily influenced by the finer side of wedding stationery trends and product trends including deckled edges, translucent invitations, florals and neutral palettes. The Trend line offers the couple lots of options to create an ensemble unique to their wedding style, and we continue to expand on that idea every year.

Q. Are there any other upcoming collections or launches you would like us to share?

A. The 2022 Wedding Collections are scheduled to go live on the website in October with a catalog also available at that time. And, our presentation boxes with samples will be available to our Carlson Craft partners in January 2023! We are also looking forward to introducing a brand new Mitzvah Collection into the market this May!
