Aesthetic of the Line? Thoughtful Human offerings are designed to be personal and intimate — each feeling as though it was created solely for you and your loved one to exchange. Our cards are printed on handmade seed paper, so the messages actually bloom in their next incarnation. Our sentiments focus on connecting people amidst challenging circumstances, with a broad variety of imagery and aesthetics illustrated by the incredible Summer Ortiz Ross to capture diverse emotional narratives. Playful linework and expressive typography convey joy and whimsy, while more serious sentiments are represented with intentionally minimalistic, raw layouts to evoke sincerity and authenticity.

Current Bestseller? At Least Dogs. We have many cards offering comfort and encouragement, but when all else fails … at least dogs!

Personal Favorite? Peaks. For me, the perfect birthday wish — honest and real, but ever optimistic!

Surprise Hit? Sending Hugs. Our community has really gravitated to this card and made it a top-seller since day one. I think it serves as both an icebreaker in a tough moment and a little time capsule that lets people envision all of the playful and heavy moments they’ve shared with a loved one.

Iconic Selection? Entire Planet. This is the first card I ever wrote for Thoughtful Human. While it’s often used for romantic relationships, it’s really a love letter to my best friend.

Current Design Obsession? Mixing illustrated linework with watercolor washes, and pairing bright spot colors with more subtle tones.

Favorite Color? Currently a mustard yellow (#EAAA00) and a bright teal (#95d0C2).

Favorite Flower? Stargazer Lilies.

Favorite Indulgence? Regretfully, the honest answer these days is jelly beans.
