NY NOW Winter 2019 Market emerges as epicenter of retail renaissance

NY NOW, the largest retail-facing exhibition in the Americas, is dynamically transforming. Held February 3-6, 2019 at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City, the market will fully embrace the sweeping renaissance that is reinventing retail. The winter 2019 market, with its 2,300 exhibitors, will demonstrate what success looks like now and in the future to a newly revitalized brick and mortar retail marketplace.

Growing faster than GDP, the millions of independent retailers responsible for 96%+ of all retail sales are beginning to experience a totally new and exciting reality. Online commerce, long assumed to be the future of retail, now makes up less than 9% of the total market and all about “chore” purchasing. Meanwhile in-store or “cherish shopping” is on the rise. Millennials and Gen Z buyers prefer the brick and mortar environment and want to discover unique and inspirational pieces and experiences.

Premiere retailers that present buyers with creative experiences comprised of distinctive, innovative, and unique products are not only thriving, they are growing 40 times faster than the traditional retailer, with thousands of new stores opening all over the country.

“The retail renaissance has brought dynamic change and real opportunity to the independent retailer, and just like the market it serves, NY NOW is transforming. NY NOW will be the event where premiere retailers find innovative, unique, and distinctive products, experience creative expressions by the top designers, and learn what success looks like from those who are living it now,” Kevin O’Keefe EVP, NY NOW Event Director.

The “Transcend” feature at NY NOW will demonstrate what inspirational experience looks like as presented by exhibitors, and then more spectacularly in several major “Transcend Experience” on floor installations created by NYC designer Robin Baron and her team of design stars.

“I am delighted to present the Transcend Experience with four unique installations, one designed by Vanessa Deleon, another by Francis Toumbakaris, and a third one by select ASID NY Metro designers Kim Radovich, Bjorn Bjornsson, Charles Pavarini III, and Elissa Grayer” said brand ambassador Robin Baron. “The fourth Transcend Experience will be designed by me and my design team. We hope to inspire your creativity and excite you about the show!”

On floor Transcend Talks will feature a stellar line up of industry luminaries like the CEOs of Lladro, Lissoni, Robin Baron Design, Inc., Holiday House, Meagan Camp Interiors, Lockwood, Social Chain, Gensler, Business of Home, Refinery29, etsy, and many more. Speakers will address key elements of the retail renaissance including the basics of creating an experience, designing for millennials, retail renaissance and the power of social media, the future of e-commerce and brick and mortar, and much more.

Under the guidance of New York Interior Designer, Iris Dankner, The Holiday House at NY NOW, positioned in the Distinctive Living section of the market, will showcase beautiful compositions in design, created by four of the nation’s leading and emerging design talents. These stunning rooms and outdoor terraces will illustrate to NY NOW’s 23,000+ buyers what inspirational experience can look like in their stores. Buyers and designers can enjoy fine wines while touring Holiday House.

“I’m thrilled to bring Holiday House’s mission of showcasing beautiful design while making a difference in the world to NYNow. We are excited to have some of our favorite designers create inspiring vignettes to give visitors innovative home styling ideas,” stated Iris Dankner, Founder and Chair of Holiday House NYC, a designer showcase that raises funds for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Other features of NY NOW winter 2019 market include the co-location of a newly curated National Stationery Show (NSS) showcasing the best in letter press and better stationery and presenting 100 emerging artists. NSS offers coffee and mimosas every morning, and Mediterranean wine tasting in the afternoons.

Transcend and Holiday House welcome all to a major reception held the afternoon of February 4th.
