NSS names Best New Products of 2018

A panel of industry judges has selected the Best New Products from among nearly 350 entries by 200 exhibitors at the The National Stationery Show, May 20-23 at the Jacob Javits Show in New York City.

Inklings Paperie of Canton, Mich., received the Best of Show and Craft It Up/DIY category awards for its Make Your Own Scratch-Off Mini Notes, a way for people to encourage their friends with a surprise scratch-off card. “It’s truly an honor to receive the Best in Show Award, especially because there are so many creative and talented people in our industry,” said Lindsay Henry, the company’s founder and director.

The awards were announced at the Show on Sunday, May 20, and all products are showcased in a display near the Show floor. The judges, who represented a cross section of the industry, were: Lindsay Anvik, See Endless, Inc.; Sarah Schwartz, Stationery Trends and Gift Shop magazines; Nole Garey, Oh So Beautiful Paper; Alexandra Moss, Sunshine and Lace; and Danielle Rothman, Rothbyrn’s Creative.

Due to the popularity of the Best New Products program, an All Things Wedding category was brought back and a Cause-Related category added. In addition to Inklings Paperie, category winners of the 2018 National Stationery Show included:

Lily & Val, Pittsburgh, Penn.
All Things Wedding: Wedding Guestbook – Encourages guests to recount favorite memories, suggest weekend getaway locales, and rave about your wedding day – all with the help of doodle-ready pages listed with these prompts and many more.

Ash& Chess, Brooklyn, NY
Cause-Related: Gay Rights Art Print 8×10 – With 10 percent of sales going to an LGBT organization, people can feel good about helping other people and get cute art out of it.

Wild Ink Press, Chico, Calif.
Let’s Celebrate: Alcohol Ink Gift Wrap Sheets – Huge, large scale pieces of art worthy of framing.

Classy Cards, Mount Uniacke, Canada
Life/Style: Girls Night Out Round 2 Wine Label Collection – Six clever wine labels printed on peel and stick paper.

All Things Paper: Tiny Person Card – Hidden pictures are seen clearly when the card is viewed through the enclosed decoder.

“We are excited to highlight these creative and innovative products as a representation of the insight and expression of our exhibitors,” said NSS Show Director Kelly P. Bristol.

Products new to market since the 2017 National Stationery Show, or after June 1, 2017 were eligible for the competition, and exhibitor submissions were limited to one product per category.
