New Energy, Focused Buyers Prevailing Themes of 2011 NSS

Some 900 exhibiting companies and more than 11,000 buyers capitalized on the opportunity to forge new relationships at the National Stationery Show (NSS) May 15-18, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

Show officials said serious, focused buyers combined with new products lead to a show described as “alive”, “top notch” and “exciting” by exhibitors and retailers alike.

“In my 23 years in this business, NSS 2011 stands apart as one of the most upbeat and productive markets,” said Patti Stracher, show manager. “Exhibitors created the most beautiful displays and revealed inspiring new products, positioning themselves for four days of serious new business. Likewise, retailers were confident and ready to buy, discover new talent and new products, and engage in meaningful business development across the Show.”

A strong focus on new products took center stage, as nearly 500 companies showcased their latest products through the Best New Product display and competition. Nearly twice the average size, this special focus area served as a glimpse of what was to be seen on the floor as buyers made their way into the Show.

Complementing the product launches were several special features for both exhibitors and attendees, including the 2nd Annual Future Conference featuring Seth Godin, a comprehensive educational platform, Opening Night Party, Daily Demos, ‘The Paper Runway’ fashion exhibit and Tweet n’ Greets.

Show officials said evidence of the Greeting Card Association’s (GCA) new management under GLM was apparent, with a more established connection between the industry’s leading association and leading trade show.

“GLM has always managed the NSS, but this year they also were driving the GCA and that made a difference,” said Brad Cannaday, national accounts sales manager of Neenah Paper. “It was a strong connection made evident by a great Show. You’re missing the boat if you’re a GCA Associate member and not exhibiting.”

The 66th annual National Stationery Show, the comprehensive source for greeting cards, social stationery and related lifestyle products, will run Sunday, May 20, through Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

The National Stationery Show is owned and managed by George Little Management. For more information, visit www.nationalstationeryshow.com.
