London International Stationery Show to sneak peak ‘Stationery Icons’

Christopher Leonard-Morgan’s new book “Stationery Icons — 100 brands that shape how we write, draw and create” will be seen for the first time at next month’s London International Stationery Show, where Leonard-Morgan is speaking about “The story behind Stationery Icons.”

Leonard-Morgan founded the Stationery (& Office Products as it was initially known) Show nearly 20 years ago and National Stationery Week in 2013. He is a recognized champion of stationery and the importance of handwriting, and a Liveryman of The Stationers’ Company which is one of the oldest livery companies in London.

Stationery Icons is a 304 page, large size hardback coffee table book with the foreword by Theo Paphitis, owner of Ryman.

“Stationery Icons is both an historical record and a cultural lens on an industry which continues to evolve,” Leonard-Morgan said. “The book celebrates one of life’s most-loved products which sits at the centre of education, communication, creativity and now also wellbeing. It tells the story of stationery over the last 600 years and features 100 of the world’s most influential stationery brands, more than half of which are over one hundred years old, which have helped shape and continue to redefine the category. Many are exhibiting at the Stationery Show.”

Leonard-Morgan added, “These brands represent something deeper than the products themselves. They reflect our enduring relationship with the physical act of thinking on paper.”

The publication of “Stationery Icons” is timely. In an age defined by digital communications, people are reaching for pen and paper again — not out of necessity, but by choice. Consumers are rediscovering and the younger generation discovering the appeal of well-made, fashion-led screen-free products.

Beautifully designed, “Stationery Icons” will appeal to stationery and book lovers, collectors, design enthusiasts and industry professionals alike.
