GCA Announces Winner of Consumer’s Choice LOUIE Award

The Greeting Card Association (GCA) announced that Marian Heath Greeting Cards has won this year’s Consumer’s Choice LOUIE Award. The award is given to the card that receives the most “likes” on the LOUIE Awards Facebook page, following the posting of images of all winning cards from the GCA’s annual LOUIE Awards competition.

This year marked the 26th anniversary of the esteemed LOUIE Awards — considered the “Oscars” of the greeting card industry — and the winners were announced at an awards gala held at Espace in New York City on Sunday, May 18.

The Consumer’s Choice contest took place from Monday, May 19, through Saturday, May 31, allowing consumers to cast their vote by issuing a “like” for their top choice.
Marian Heath Greeting Cards’ Consumer's Choice winning card — depicting two roasting marshmallows on a stick, along with the inside verse: “You make me feel all warm and soft inside”—won top honors in the Romantic Occasions – $3.50 & Below category at this year’s LOUIE gala.

It was designed by Eric Barclay, written by Molly DelMastro and printed by J.S. McCarthy on Productolith paper. The company will receive its actual Consumer's Choice LOUIE Award at next year’s gala.

“The Marian Heath team is thrilled and honored to win the Consumer’s Choice LOUIE Award,” said Marc Salkovitz, CEO of Marian Heath Greeting Cards. “This shows we are connecting with consumers, something we pride ourselves on and strive to do everyday. Thanks to all who voted and participated to make this happen.”

Three years ago the GCA launched the Consumer’s Choice contest as a way of increasing the value and notoriety associated with winning a LOUIE Award. In addition, one voter was chosen at random to receive a selection of the winning cards as a prize for participating.

This year’s 26th Anniversary LOUIE Awards competition drew more than 900 entries from 220 companies worldwide, all of which were marketed and sold in the United States during the 2013 calendar year.
