GCA announces leadership transition and key team additions

Sierra Bretz has resigned from her role at Civica Management and as executive director of the Greeting Card Association (GCA).

“As the GCA President, I want to say we are deeply grateful for Sierra’s dedication and leadership during her time at GCA and wish her all the best in her future endeavors,” said Andy Meehan, GCA president.

As GCA continues to move the association forward, GCA announced a series of strategic changes within our leadership team:

Carlos Llansó elevated to Executive Director

Carlos Llansó, who served on the GCA Board for 16 years, (with two terms as president) and who has been working directly with Civica since late 2024 in the role of director of atrategic initiatives, has been elevated to the role of executive director effective March 14. Llansó will leverage his industry knowledge and longstanding commitment to GCA to enhance the member experience, strengthen industry relationships, secure new sponsorships, manage public relations, and drive innovative media initiatives. We are confident that Llansó will be instrumental in shaping the future of GCA and continuing to build upon the solid foundation that Nora and Sierra helped establish.

Kori Sulewski – Deputy Director

As announced in November 2024, Sulewski will continue as the deputy director. In this enhanced role, Sulewski will continue to support Llansó and Ashley Montoya with governance, strategic planning, program execution, membership engagement, financial management, and events. Sulewski will also focus on fostering board collaboration, ensuring effective communication and promoting a strong organizational culture to drive the mission of GCA forward.

Ashley Montoya joins as Director of Operations

Additionally, Civica is providing a key leader within their organization to help the GCA and announced that Ashley Montoya, vice president of operations at Civica, will be joining the GCA team as director of operations. Ashley will oversee the day-to-day governance and association operations of GCA, ensuring efficiency and supporting our organizational growth. Her experience in nonprofit management and operational strategy will be invaluable in helping GCA scale and further strengthen the association.

Support Staff provided through Civica Management

Additionally, we would like to remind the Board of the other invaluable support staff provided to GCA through our partnership with Civica Management:
