Catching up with Michelle Trincia Askin, 40 Under 40 Class of 2018

Michelle Trincia Askin co-founded bloom daily planners with Kaylyn Beaston in 2010. Both Askin and Beaston have loved planners for their entire lives and understand planners are more than just a way to organize, it is a “diary of your past and a stepping stone to your future.”

We wanted to see what amazing opportunities have risen for Askin since she won the Gift + Stationery 40 Under 40 Award in 2018, and how much growth bloom daily planners has had over the course of a couple of years.

Since receiving the Gift + Stationery 40 Under 40 Award, what amazing new adventures have you undertaken?

The most exciting venture since this award was being invited to speak on the #girlboss panel at the Go Wild Planner Conference in Las Vegas. We were honored to speak to thousands of women and answer candid questions about starting a company, staying motivated, and achieving your goals. The 40 under 40 Award was mentioned in our intro and definitely put a little spring in our steps as we were walking on to stage!

How has receiving the Gift + Stationery 40 Under 40 Award positively impacted you, personally and professionally?

This award has been such an honor and milestone for us! We have the article framed in our studio. It’s allowed us to reflect on just how far we’ve come in the past few years, and it has given us a new level of confidence for what is possible moving forward.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Bloom is growing so quickly. The sky is the limit! We see major growth in all of our product offerings, our sales channels, distribution relationships, international representation, and a much larger team to help us accomplish this. We’re so honored and proud to employ a team of such strong, capable women. We love being able to create new jobs and maintain a fun, family-like environment for our team.

What advice can you share with others in this industry about growing a career, business, or networks

Identify what makes you, your products and your message different and double-down on that to stand out from the competition. Anyone can put cute designs on paper, but they can’t copy your heart and your brand if your products are truly unique.

Our mentor has also always reiterated a special quote from Zig Ziglar: “You can have whatever you want in life if you simply help enough other people get what they want.” From day one we have been customer-focused, pouring our hearts into our products and sharing our hearts with the people we meet with a true service mentality. When you focus on truly serving others, it not only feels great, it provides amazing connections and opportunities.
