Quotable celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2018

Founded in NYC by Gillian Simon and Matt Fernandes-Vogel, quotable first introduced its signature black & white cards to the market in 1993. These initial 48 cards not only defined the company, they inspired a completely new message-driven market within the industry. Today, quotable’s iconic designs can be found on cards as well as a wide range of gift products, including magnets, mugs, dishes, pouches, candles, pins, and more.

Quotable’s mission has always been simple: to inspire through the power of the written word. As recent college grads, Gillian and Matt knew there were people out there like themselves who wanted smart, simple cards that just weren’t available at the time. They had an idea to quote great writers, artists, and thinkers, and use their words as the foundation for their designs. From this came the incomparable typographic style that is quotable. This remains the often imitated, never replicated look of the line to this day.

Perhaps quotable’s most distinguishing attribute is the emphasis it puts on sourcing timeless quotations from both past and present thinkers and in uencers. the line features messages from the likes of Kristin Hannah (best-selling author), Diana Nyad (long distance swimmer), and John Wilson (folk musician) alongside those from Jack Kerouac, Anais Nin, Edith Wharton, Henry Miller, and Gandhi.

Quotable’s appeal transcends age, gender, and culture. twenty-five years after the company’s inception, the line can be found across the country and around the globe, mostly in independent retailers. Despite its growth, quotable still operates with the care, passion, and personal attention of the start up it once was.

In honor of its 25th year, quotable is re-introducing two card favorites from the premier batch, including the very rst quotable card. A testament to the timelessness of the line, these vintage styles are as relevant today as they were when it all began.
