Published by Compendium and illustrated by Mae Besom, “What Do You Do With a Chance?” tells the story of a child who isn’t sure what to make of a chance encounter—then discovers that when you’re brave and say yes to new experiences, amazing things can happen. The title is the third and final installment of the award-winning “What Do You Do With…?” series.

The series began in February 2014 with the release of “What Do You Do With an Idea?” Word of mouth slowly grew around the title as teachers, librarians NBA executive turned entrepreneur Saskia Sorrosa embraced the book. The second title “What Do You Do With a Problem?” was published in July 2016. The picture book series now inspires readers around the world, with more than 1 million copies in print, translated into 23 languages. An animated film is also in production and is expected to be released by Waterman Entertainment in late 2018.”

Yamada hopes the series will teach children what matters most in the world. “I want these books to encourage kids to make every moment count, to hold nothing back, to live their best life,” says Yamada. “The reality is we’re only here for a little while, this is our one and only shot. If we are going to make some kind of positive difference in the world, it starts with the belief that we can.”

“What Do You Do With a Chance?” is already being met with praise. Booklist calls it an “inspired combination of words and images,” and School Library Journal recommends the title as “a read-aloud worthy of repeated reading.”
