Lovepop uses its expertise to produce personal protective equipment

During these difficult times, Lovepop is now using its design and manufacturing expertise to produce much-needed personal protective equipment. With guidance from Partners Healthcare Working Groups and the State of Massachusetts Manufacturing Emergency Response Team (M-ERT), Lovepop has developed face shields that will soon be deployed to healthcare providers and staff in Massachusetts.

Lovepop’s version of the full-face shield incorporates the brand’s signature color and brightness with an encouraging “I’m here for you” message to simultaneously protect and lift the spirits of those on both sides of the shield.

A Lovepop card may not look much like a typical medical grade face shield, but much of the efforts to design, engineer, and manufacture both products are the same, so the shift from paper art to PPE was a meaningful one. “Lovepop is one of the first alternative PPE suppliers to be considered ready for contract by the state of Massachusetts, and we are designing and developing other emergency-use personal protective equipment, including gowns, coveralls, hoods, shoe covers, and innovative isolation chambers (to protect healthcare workers while administering COVID-19 tests), in addition to the face shields,” Lovepop noted in a press release.

With potential hospital bed shortages on the horizon, Lovepop is also working on a novel solution inspired by years of 3D card-making. We’ve designed a pop-up emergency cot that is disposable and packs flat, making it easy to ship and store for use in healthcare facilities in need. The design utilizes the materials and skills key to Lovepop’s core product line.

“We are so excited to share these developments with the public,” Christine Conti, director of public relations for Lovepop, noted.
