International designs and worldwide influence shine at NY NOW

The international community brings an endlessly diverse approach to the products that surround us every day. Buyers who want to bring a global touch to their stores or shops will find the most intriguing designs at NY NOWthe Market for Home, Lifestyle + Gift. Taking place February 3-7, 2018 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City, NY NOW will feature more than 2,300 exhibitors, which includes 445 international exhibitors across 45 different countries and spanning six continents. At the winter 2018 edition in particular, NY NOW will welcome a number of new international brands throughout the market, including a number of new exhibitors to the Accent on Design and Artisan Resource sections.

“For forward-thinking designs and a creative use of materials, NY NOW is certainly the place to be,” said Randi Mohr, NY NOW Show Director and Emerald Expositions Vice President. “We especially love seeing the international influence each season. The industry’s leading resource for innovative, design-led merchandise for more than 30 years, Accent on Design features a curated selection of more than 125 established and emerging design brands that continually push the creative envelope. Applicants are selected based on original, creative and authentic product design; new and innovative use of materials and/or process; products which address and solve problems; a focus on contemporary design; functionality; and consistent and continuous new product introductions. The products that will be on display cover all categories and mediums from brands around the world including decor, accessories, furniture, tableware and more. As part of NY NOW’s HANDMADE Collection, Artisan Resource connects U.S.-based importers with international producers and exporters. Exhibitors in this section will showcase products in a wide range of categories including gift, home decor, textiles, tabletop, stationery, jewelry, apparel and fashion accessories. The materials are equally diverse and feature products made from ceramics, glass, metal, leather, natural fibers, recycled materials and paper, and more. Exhibitors are carefully selected to participate in this section based on their commitment to design innovation, cultural preservation, social enterprise and sustainability experience.   • Ellilta Products (Booth #3683; NEW; Ethiopia) – A local Ethiopian NGO that helps women find gainful job opportunities after leaving a life of prostitution. The women develop scarves and various styles of jewelry for clients around the world and all profit goes back into the program to further the company’s rehabilitation efforts.
  • LRNCE (Booth #3662; NEW; Morocco) – Contemporary interior decor and accessories including ceramics, textiles, mirrors, clothes, shoes and bags.
  • Red Transdisciplinaria de Desarrollo Sustentable (Booth #3775; NEW; Mexico) – A sustainable initiative that works with indigenous women from Santa Fe de la Laguna, Michoacan in Mexico to create various types of pottery. Colors are made with natural soil and the lead-free glaze and cooking part was made with traditional techniques in efficient firewood ovens.
  • Siblings Army (Booth #3767; NEW; Peru) – Beautifully crafted fashion accessories featuring Peruvian fabrics carefully handmade by a community of women in Willoq, Peru.
