Industry Profile: Scratch Ink Studio

How did Scratch Paper Studio come to be? Before Scratch Paper Studio started in 2012, I was designing invitations for friends and through an etsy shop under another name. At the time, I was just testing things out, learning about stationery and printing, and it was more of a weekend hobby for me. In 2012, I decided that I loved creating stationery and wanted to transition from hobby to business and I launched Scratch Paper Studio.

What’s the concept? Scratch Paper Studio creates stationery and gifts for inspired living. The main concept behind everything I do is to encourage and inspire women to live their dreams and spread a little joy to others too. Whether she gifts one of our mugs to her BFF who is starting a new job or she buys an inspirational art print for her home office, I create these products to be another piece of encouragement saying to the women (and some men) who buy (them) that they can do whatever they dream of doing. Each product I create is functional and stylish, but there is also a little message of inspiration mixed in to keep you going on days when the to-do list is long and your free time is limited; when you’re overwhelmed or just plain tired. What I always hope our products do is keep you inspired, put a smile on your face and keep you going towards that goal or dream.

All the stationery and gifts I create is my little way of saying that one more person is in your corner rooting for you.

Is there one specific facet of the industry that catapulted your desire to start a stationery company? Definitely. I’ve been in love with paper since I was a little girl. I was always gifted beautiful stationery sets from my family and I loved writing letters and notes. As I got older I fell in love with design and when I realized I could combine these two things I loved into a business, I was sold.

Tell me about your blog. Is it mainly advice, experience or product finds? The blog is a mix. I want this blog to be a resource for ways to be inspired and to live joyfully whether it’s trying a new DIY project or sharing steps on how to add a morning routine to your daily schedule. I also love sharing product finds, inspiration and recipes too. In addition to all those things I also talk about Scratch Paper Studio products.

If one product could define your personality, which would it be? Definitely the coffee mugs. They’re a mix of fun, sweet and inspirational. I’m an optimistic person and love to encourage others and the mug collection captures this trait of my personality completely. I view the mug collection as a way of spreading a little encouragement when you need it while filling your mug with your favorite tea, coffee or anything else you choose.
