Up With Paper Acquires Popshots Studios

Up With Paper, the world’s largest manufacturer and marketer of pop-up greeting cards, has acquired Popshots Studios, a European distributor of greeting cards and related products.

Up With Paper has enjoyed dramatic growth since its acquisition by The C.M. Paula Company in January 2005. The addition of Popshots Studios, which has distributed Up With Paper’s lines in Europe for more than 10 years, opens up new growth opportunities for both companies. Popshots distributes Up With Paper brands throughout Europe, as well as other leading brands such as Five Dollar Shake, Hammond Gower, ZZ Designs, and a proprietary sound champagne bottle line in selected countries.

“Popshots Studios will greatly improve our understanding of the European market, which is a significant and growing part of our business,” said George White, president and COO of Up With Paper. “This will enable us to not only bring more and better Up With Paper products to the market, in Europe and the US, but also to look at adding other lines to the Popshots portfolio.”

European customers of Popshots will experience no change in service, but will benefit from the closer partnership and financial backing of Up With Paper. David Macrae, managing director of Popshots Studios for almost 10 years, will maintain his leadership role at Popshots, and will also become part of the Up With Paper management team.

The company’s Treasures, Panoramics, Pop-Up Snow Globe Greetings, Sight ‘n Sound and other lines of pop-up greeting cards, gift enclosures and related products continue to be among the leading drivers of revenues and profits per square foot among fine specialty retailers throughout the United States and around the world.

The company’s award-winning pop-up book division, Jumping Jack Press, has also seen significant growth, and was recently awarded a license from Disney Licensed Publishing to develop and market Toy Story and Marvel Super Hero pop-up books next year.
