SURTEX To Be Expanded

Responding to the upbeat attitude and brisk business at SURTEX 2010, show producer GLM has set the dates and announced expansion plans for SURTEX 2011, marking the 25th anniversary of the only trade show in North America devoted to the sale and licensing of original art and design.

SURTEX 2011 will take place May 15-17 in the Jacob K Javits Convention Center in New York City. Exhibitor registration and attendee applications opened this week and are already arriving at GLM headquarters, reported Penny Sikalis, vice president and show manager.

“After the very successful 2010 show, we are getting requests for exhibitor space earlier than usual,” Sikalis said. “GLM will expand the exhibit area to accommodate some 300 exhibitors in all, up from the nearly 250 exhibitors at SURTEX 2010.”

Representing more than 12 countries from all over the globe, the exhibitors showed all types of original art for sale and licensing to some 6,000 attendees from 41.

“And we expect those numbers to increase this year as the global economy continues to improve,” she said.

The show will again be situated in Hall 3A at the Javits, adjacent to the National Stationery Show and one-flight above the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, popular attractions that draw additional crowds of manufacturers, retailers, and designers.

With exhibitor applications accepted on a first-come/first-served basis, Sikalis urged potential exhibitors to apply early at www.SURTEX.com. Booth assignments are made pending space availability, with returning exhibitors awarded the right of first refusal and registration for attendees is also open on-line.
