NY NOW: Exhibitor submissions for Sustainability and Destination new product displays for Winter 2016 market

Submissions are now open for the popular SustainAbility: design for a better world and Destination: NEW product displays at the winter 2016 edition of NY NOWthe Market for Home, Lifestyle + Gift. Both opportunities are free to participate and open to all winter 2016 market exhibitors that meet the criteria for each respective display.

“For buyers, these unique displays provide an opportunity to see the standout products in each category that they won’t want to miss. For exhibitors, participating in these displays gives them yet another chance to get in front of potential buyers before they place their orders,” said Randi Mohr, co-director and vice president of NY NOW.

SustainAbility: design for a better world

Consumer demand for green products is at an all-time high, and since 2008, NY NOW has taken a leadership role in the green arena through its SustainAbility: design for a better world project, a special exhibit and educational series showcasing environmentally-conscious and socially-responsible products and manufacturers from around the world. The winter 2016 market will continue that tradition by recognizing the increasing importance of eco-friendly products across NY NOW’s three collections – HOME, LIFESTYLE, and HANDMADE – in its popular SustainAbility: design for a better worlddisplay.

Curated by Ilene Shaw of Shaw + Co! Productions and located in the North Concourse of the Jacob K. Javits Center, the SustainAbility: design for a better world display will showcase global gift and home industry suppliers whose products or production processes are eco-friendly, or companies whose business practices are socially responsible, philanthropic or fair-trade oriented. In addition to newness and inventiveness, submissions should adhere to the following category criteria:

  • “Green” Products: This category will highlight products that are manufactured or constructed with only recycled, recyclable and/or sustainable materials.
  • Environmentally-friendly Production Processes: This category will focus on manufacturers who are using renewable or alternative sources of energy in production, including wind, sun, and alternative fuels.
  • Socially-responsible Business Practices: This category will address products produced by indigenous peoples, creating viable, sustainable trades and markets in poverty-stricken and disadvantaged communities worldwide. Submissions in this category will also include manufacturers who donate percentages of their sales to not-for-profit organizations.

Exhibitors may email Ilene Shaw at [email protected] to obtain a unique link to submit additional information for this display. All exhibitors that apply for the SustainAbility display will also be featured in NY NOW’s SustainAbility literature for market attendees. The deadline for submissions is Nov. 6, 2015.
