NobleWorks announces 35th anniversary

On April 24, NobleWorks announced its 35th anniversary. Launched in New York at the National Stationery Show in 1980, this greeting card company is now based in New Jersey and has been in the industry for 35 years.

NobleWorks was founded by Christopher Noble, a house painter, and Jay Purvis, a magazine art director, who started the company in Noble's kitchen with a $400 loan from his mother. The original line of 12 cards was more artsy than edgy, and hand-painted with flat latex paint. Sadly, the company eventually lost both of its founding partners to AIDS.

NobleWorks' Talk Bubbles line, introduced in 1984, was the industry's “retro” card concept, combining vintage imagery with humorous verses, and continues to be one of the company's best-selling lines. Other popular lines include RedRocket, PETiGreet, Oh Baby!, Last Kiss, Divas, Zodiacs and more. The company partners with designers and cartoonists worldwide, including Tim Whyatt, Tom Cheney, Dan Collins, McCoy Bros., Maria Scrivan, Dan Piraro, Leigh Rubin and many others to create cards for numerous occasions.

Today, more than 5,000 everyday and seasonal designs are available, ranging from topics such as current events, social media, politics and religion. The company's slogan is, “Dare to Laugh!”

“Thirty-five years may seem like a long time, but time flies when you are having too much fun!” said Ron Kanfi, who joined the company as its first employee in 1983 and became NobleWorks' president and “chief cardologist” in 2001. “The world needs humor now more than ever, and we'd all be better off if we didn't take ourselves too seriously. NobleWorks looks forward to continuing to make people laugh in a world where a joke, funny or not, won't get you shot.”

All of NobleWorks cards are printed on demand in the U.S. using recycled paper and retail for $3.50. NobleWorks is a proud member of the Greeting Card Association. The company's entire product line can be viewed at NobleWorks’s website or on its wholesale-only website at www.NobleWorksInc.com
