Marcia Miller regains absolute control of Mud Pie

Just five years after entering into an equity partnership with Lineage Capital, Mud Pie founder and CEO, Marcia Miller, is taking back complete ownership of the gift and apparel powerhouse with an eye on the future.

In 2010, Miller sought outside investment to facilitate the growth of Mud Pie. Now five years later, Mud Pie has doubled in size both physically and financially. With that high rate of growth, the entrepreneur decided that it was too good an investment to pass up and one that would be financially impossible down the road.

Miller and Lineage Capital — the Company’s institutional partner — worked with Mud Pie’s investment bankers at TM Capital to find an option that would both provide Lineage a return for its investment and allow Miller to regain 100 percent equity ownership of Mud Pie.

According to Marcia Miller, Mud Pie is her life’s work. “Mud Pie is truly our third child and has been a labor of love for over 27 years,” she said. “Our associates are like family to us, both here and abroad. We are also incredibly committed to our retailers and want to keep the personal touch that a family business can provide.”

Miller values the knowledge and guidance of her Lineage associates. “They brought new expertise and ideas that helped us to professionalize our processes,” she said, “We have made strong additions to our management team with the depth of experience needed to take the business to the next level. We believe the sky is the limit!”

What’s next for Mud Pie? Continuing to build on the strength of the Mud Pie brand and partnering with OneCoast to continue the expansion of the dedicated Mud Pie Sales Division. “Our customers expect newness and affordability from Mud Pie and we are laser focused on delivering just that,” said Miller. “I would love nothing more than to see Mud Pie become a multigenerational legacy.”
