International Paper launches HP Office ‘Pink Ream’ in support of breast cancer research, awareness

International Paper, a global leader in fibre-based packaging, pulp, and paper, has announced that it is collaborating with the Komen European Network (partner of Susan G Komen organisation), to launch a specially created HP Office ‘Pink Ream’ in support of programmes to help save lives from breast cancer in Europe.

The HP Office ‘Pink Ream’ product will be available exclusively through Office Depot from June, and it will then be made available through all other distribution channels from mid-September and October, as October is the international month of breast cancer awareness. This will be through the retail outlets of Office Outlet, Spicers, Staples and Rymans.

A contribution of £0.10 from the sale of each HP Office ‘Pink Ream’ in Europe will be made to the Komen European Network during 2017, with a minimum guarantee of €100,000 being donated to the charity. Susan G Komen is the world’s largest breast cancer organisation, (whose vision is a world without breast cancer), and its European Network was founded by European non-profit groups who collaborate with the group to arrange The Race for the Cure® events in Europe. The Race for the Cure® is the largest event worldwide in the fight against breast cancer, where participants either run 5km or walk 3km.

According to the Susan G. Komen Europe Network, their mission is to work collaboratively to reduce mortality from breast cancer and support women facing the disease.  The Network focuses on: Breast health awareness and targeted education, Projects that identify and reduce barriers to care and services, and mission programs supporting women with breast cancer.

As part of a European agreement, all the funds donated by International Paper in Europe will stay in the region, and will be used to support and aid European programmes that are focused on breast cancer research, awareness, and prevention.

International Paper in the United States donates $50,000 annually to the breast cancer research and awareness campaign through the Susan G Komen organisation. The collaboration between International Paper and HP Papers has been in existence in the USA since 2007, during which time more than $700,000 has been donated towards the campaign. International Paper has now decided to extend that collaboration into Europe, and the HP Office ‘Pink Ream’ initiative aims to become a global breast cancer support programme of the HP Papers brand, which is manufactured exclusively by International Paper, based on the positive experience in the US.

International Paper has chosen to provide support for the breast cancer research awareness campaign, as the company believes all efforts to reduce the mortality rate from breast cancer, both local and globally, are equally important. International Paper therefore opted to support directly one organisation with the widest global reach coverage – Susan G Komen.

According to the Susan G. Komen Europe Network, breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer death for women over the age of 35 in Europe, with nearly 500,000 women a year being diagnosed with breast cancer. Every year over 140,000 women pass away which makes it the biggest mortality for European women over 35.
