Charlotte Lane

Cumming, Ga.

1. When and how did you start working in this business?

Atlanta-based couple Kristine Cholakian and Kenneth Cooke started Charlotte Lane in 2013 as a way to share their art and hearts with the world. Cholakian, an event planner and designer, and Cooke, a graphic artist, both love to draw and paint and launched Charlotte Lane originally as a passion project they could work on together.

2. What is your signature style?

All of the pieces are individually hand-cut and hand-painted, never printed. Our work is often described as whimsy, artful and watercolor magic.

3. What are your most popular stationery offerings?

Our Skyline Card sets, Don’t Forget Note sets, Anything tags and Yogi-ism cards have been huge hits.

4. Please share the direction your line will be taking.

We expanded into hand-painted home décor in late 2013 which has been tons of fun, but we are continuing to grow at our roots, which is our paper collection. Look out for new stationery sets and paper products. Additionally, we just launched a movement called #ProjectSnailMail, that encourages everyone to send a handwritten note to a friend or loved one. We truly believe this little act of kindness goes such a long way.

5. What are your top three tips for success?

1.) Stay true to what you love. 2.) Don’t make anything you wouldn’t buy or use yourself; it’s not always about “what the people want.” 3.) Let your personality shine through.
